According to Wikipedia a meet-cute is a situation in which a future romantic couple meets for the first time in a way that is considered adorable, entertaining, or amusing.

How about Ferris Wheel Speed Dating at the 100th Prince George Exhibition Friday, August 10, for the ultimate meet-cute story that will go down in your family's history.

Love is in the air at the fair.

It's already happened for PGX president Nancy Loreth and her husband Bob, their daughter Betty Nelson and husband, Terry, and PGX employee Kait Greer and her boyfriend Graham Borzel.

The Loreths celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary Aug. 3

"It was 1962 and, of course, at that time, we had to be accompanied by his sister and my sister," said Loreth. "And Bob spent his entire pay cheque putting our sisters on rides. I'll never forget that. It wasn't a big cheque, but he spent it all!"

Then in 1980, Betty, who was in 4H at the time, came to the PGX to show her animals and her future husband, Terry, was showing dairy beef at the fair.

"I was on barn duty, sweeping the barn, when Terry came over from the dairy barn," said Nelson. "He actually asked if he could help me sweep." Now that's true love and a great meet-cute story. Nothing came of it until much later.

After running into Betty's brother in 1983, Terry called her up and they started dating after that.

Betty and Terry just celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary.

A new version on the theme is that Kait Greer, who's worked at the fair every summer for the last six years, met her boyfriend Graham Borzel on her way home from closing up the fair six years ago. Part of their meet-cute story is that Greer was driving her '73 Beetle, which sparked interest from Borzel and now every year they work at the fair together. He's a volunteer that does a lot of the grunt work around the grounds, while her work is more administrative.
