An 18-year-old man suspected of joining his father in breaking into a Girl Guides camp in May was sentenced to 18 months probation with a conditional discharge.
Brady Samuel Klyne was also issued a two-year firearms prohibition and assessed $400 in victim surcharges on one count each of possession of stolen property under $5,000 and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose during an appearance Wednesday in Prince George provincial court.
Robert Glenn Klyne, 42, was sentenced in early July to 24 days in jail for break and enter and committing an indictable offence. He was also prohibited from driving for one year for dangerous driving, issued a 10-year firearms prohibition for possessing weapon for dangerous purpose, sentenced to two years probation on the counts as well as breach of probation and assessed $800 in victim surcharges.
The two were arrested May 4 after RCMP were called in to the scene about 75 km southeast of Prince George. They located the suspect vehicle on a forest service road and had to use a road block to stop the two, who were then taken into custody without incident.
Police said they uncovered a black pellet handgun and a pellet rifle along with other evidence of the break and enter but no stolen items in the vehicle. After many hours of searching several kilometres of roads in the area, a police service dog team located about $8,000 worth of stolen items.
Both were released on bail shortly after their arrests.
