Prince George Search and Rescue volunteers were called out over Sunday night to rescue a pair of snowmobilers who suffered the misfortune of seeing both their sleds break down.

PGSAR search manager Dale Bull said volunteers were called in after the two had not yet returned to their departure point at the Prince George Snowmobile Club by the planned time.

The two were found on foot at about 1:30 a.m. Monday, "and they still had hours before they got back to anything that they could use for shelter," Bull said.

However, both were uninjured and were dressed for the cold weather which saw the overnight low dip to -20 C.

Bull said the two did themselves a favour by leaving a trip plan with the club.

"Had they not left that trip plan, it could have been a very different scenario," Bull said.

Members of the snowmobile club also participated in the search.
