A 37-year-old man was killed Monday in an avalanche while snowmobiling on Eureka Peak east of 150 Mile House.
South Cariboo Search and Rescue were notified at 4 p.m. and an attempt to land a helicopter at the site was unsuccessful.
Williams Lake RCMP said SAR hopes to attend the scene today, "however weather and conditions may affect their ability to at this time."
The public is being asked to avoid the area.
The man was with a group, RCMP said. Further details on the deceased were not provided.
As of Tuesday, the avalanche danger in the Cariboos was considerable in the alpine and moderate at treeline according to Avalanche Canada.
