Prince George and area could be buried under as much as 20 centimetres of new snow by Wednesday morning, Environment Canada says in a warning issued Monday.

The deluge is forecast to begin early morning Tuesday and followed by a brief reprieve over Tuesday night.

"However, this will be short lived and accumulating snowfall will return Wednesday morning before tapering off to flurries by Wednesday afternoon," officials said.

The warning covers Prince George, Hixon, Vanderhoof, Fort St. James, McBride and Valemount.

"Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions," Environment Canada said.
