Prince George city crews were busy removing snow from Frontage Road, along the Hart Highway, to Foothills Boulevard on Thursday.
The move had one Prince George resident questioning why the city would be moving snow from one place to another so late in the season.
"Is this necessary to remove, considering the financial situation the city seems to be in," Nicholas Sims said. "Could our tax money not be used more efficiently?"
City superintendent of operations Bill Gaal said Frontage Road has a history of flooding during the spring freshet.
"We have a list of locations ... where there is a history of flooding," Gaal said. "This isn't anything new."
Snow is removed from areas where flooding has been an issue in the past and dumped in places, like Foothills Boulevard, where the snow can melt without causing issues for property owners or city infrastructure, he said.
At this time of year, city snow removal crews are only working to respond to complaints of localized flooding or manage areas with historic flooding issues, Gaal added.
