Smithers RCMP and the North District Major Crime Unit are investigating the stabbing death of 26-year-old Francis George Namox in Smithers on Friday, according to a statement issued by North District RCMP.
Police were called to Main Street at approximately 11:35 p.m., where they found Namox suffering from stab wounds. He was taken by hospital to Bulkley Valley Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A 21-year-old man was arrested in relation to the attack. Crown counsel has charged Kelly Andrew Johnson with second degree murder and is expected to make his first court appearance on Tuesday in Smithers.
