Skakun going through cross examination

City councillor Brian Skakun agreed reasonable action was taken in response to the Kitty Heller report into allegations of workplace harassment at the Prince George RCMP detachment during cross examination this morning.

City councillor Brian Skakun agreed reasonable action was taken in response to the Kitty Heller report into allegations of workplace harassment at the Prince George RCMP detachment during cross examination this morning.

Skakun, who is standing trial on a charge of violating provincial privacy legislation by handing over the report and other documents related to the issue to the CBC, said city council and administration made the right move in carrying out a review of the city's code of conduct in light of Heller's findings.

However, he still maintained further steps could have been taken in light of a workplace survey that indicated low morale in the detachment and agreed with Crown counsel Judith Doulis that he saw himself as an "informal court of appeal."

"Yeah, sure," he replied when asked if he agreed with the characterization.

Closing arguments are expected to be given this afternoon.
