Shots heard, rifle found near trail

RCMP found a semi-automatic rifle near a pathway between Oak and Pine streets on Sunday night after responding to callers who heard shots being fired. Called to the area between the 2400 blocks of Oak and Victoria streets at about 8:45 p.m.

RCMP found a semi-automatic rifle near a pathway between Oak and Pine streets on Sunday night after responding to callers who heard shots being fired.

Called to the area between the 2400 blocks of Oak and Victoria streets at about 8:45 p.m., RCMP deployed a service dog and handler.

What police described as an "SKS-type rifle" was found near the pathway, part of the Centennial Trail around the city. No injuries were reported to police.
