A handful of northern communities were given grants Tuesday to help fund new or existing programs for seniors.
The age-friendly B.C. grants, a joint project of the Union of British Columbia Municipalities and the provincial government, provided up to $20,000 for programs or tools aimed at helping senior residents.
Fort St. James got the maximum amount for a transportation project dubbed "No resident left behind." Fraser Lake also maxed out its grant for a support and drop-in centre.
Burns Lake was awarded $17,400 for an age-friendly community assessment and Williams Lake received $20,000 for a kitchen renovation at a senior's centre.
Province wide, 27 communities qualified for grants.
