The North Central Seniors group hosts a Demonstration Kitchen event each month to tantalize hungry seniors who are looking for something a little out of their routine that’s easy enough to create at home.

“Once a month we get together and we get a cook who will show us how to make easy, nutritious meals that are perhaps a little different than we’re used to – I’ve been cooking for 63 years and it gets boring, right?” Hennie Cook, North Central Seniors president, said.

This month Chef Rolan Abraham created a dish called Khoresh-e Ghormeh, a Persian Herb Stew.

“I was able to get the recipe ahead of time so I made it last weekend and it’s quite delicious,” Cook said.

Each attendee at the event watched how to make the dish and then, bonus, everyone sampled it and took the recipe home with them.

“It was so much fun getting the group together to learn to cook something different,” Cook said.

"I would like to thank the City of Prince George for sponsoring the Demonstration Kitchen events to promote healthy cooking for seniors."
