Secret Santa Project PG is in need of sponsors to provide for the people in need in Prince George.

Hoodies and hygiene products are on the wish list for teens of families in need who are on the Secret Santa Project PG’s radar.

It’s back to the basics for many families in need whose number one request is always blankets.

There are more than 25 requests that have gone unanswered so far this season with more applications coming in until the deadline on Dec. 4. Last year, Secret Santa provided 157 hampers, the year before 146.

“If you, your family, your business, or even a group of friends, would like to be matched with a family of any size, a couple or a single person, please send a DM to the Secret Santa Project PG page,” Marianne Koops, one of the organizers of the project, said.

“We try to catch the people that fall through the cracks of the other hamper programs, so we accept singles and couples without children – it’s really what Secret Santa is all about.”

We all know it’s hard to shop for teens, but Secret Santa makes it easy because as part of the application process people are asked to make a gift wish list and nowadays everyone is so practical, it’s mostly all about the necessities - hoodies, hygiene products and blankets.

There are also drop-off opportunities for people who would like to contribute to the cause by providing non-perishable food items, blankets, and hygiene items and if you drop off a gift card please give it to someone in the store. Accepting donations are Koops Bikes, 4Paws Pure, and Anchor’s Seafood.

As a sponsor you will provide your match family(s) or individual(s) with the items to make a full Christmas dinner, including meat, potatoes, vegetable and dessert, a small reasonably-priced gift or two for each member of the household, and some extra groceries and household supplies to get them by for a bit over the holidays, Koops explained.

A sponsor must have their items ready no later than Dec. 19.

It takes a lot of dedicated effort to make this a success.

"Please be patient with our team," Koops said.

“We are all volunteers with full time jobs and we will answer all questions in as timely fashion as possible. Thank you from the Secret Santa Project team.”
