Seats are still available in College of New Caledonia's Career Technical Centre program, which allows high school students to graduate with not only their high school diploma, but their first-year certificate in technical training.

The next 10-month CTC program begins in February.

"They will earn dual credit," said Tim Power, CTC co-ordinator. "They can earn 40 to 48 of their Grade 12 elective credits here as well as their first-year apprenticeship."

CTC has openings in automotive service/auto collision repair; carpentry/joinery;electrical/electronics; heavy duty and commercial transport mechanics and welding level C. Students must currently be enrolled in Grade 11 in any high school within School District 57 and have not already graduated from Grade 12. They must have the ability to achieve a C+ average at CNC and cannot turn 19 before Sept. 6, 2011.

Once accepted, they will attend two semesters at CNC and two semesters at their high school.

They will return to their high school for their final semester of Grade 12 and graduate along with their high school friends in June.

They will also receive their first-year technical training certificate from the college and be eligible to work as a first-year apprentice right after graduation.
