With ratification of the teachers contract, schools will reopen to students for a 90-minute session on Monday followed by a full day of classes on Tuesday, the school district said Friday afternoon.
Busses will run at the usual time in the morning on Monday and return to pick up students at the end of the morning session. Busses will return to their regular schedules on Tuesday.
Gradual entry for kindergarten classes will also begin on Monday, with a 45-minute session gradually rising to a full day by Oct. 1.
Hixon, Giscome and McBride Centennial will have an alternate kindergarten schedule to accommodate rural bussing.
High school students will probably see some changes to their calendars.
"Due to the late start to the school year, it is likely the Ministry of Education will allow district staff to balance secondary semesters and schedule provincial exams at a later date," the school district said in a statement.
"Senior staff are working with the Ministry of Education and the Prince George District Teachers Association today [Friday] and we expect to announce a revised semester one end, Ministry of Education exam schedule and semester two start early next week.
Secondary school principals will provide this information to you."
It's also likely the Jan. 23 non-instruction day will be "will be shifted to coincide with the adjustment in semesters."
However, the rest of the calender, including the two-week break in February for the Canada Winter Games, will remain in place.
"All remaining non Instructional days and scheduled school year holidays are confirmed as determined earlier this year by the board of education," the district said.
