Diversity is coming to School District 57.
From April 27 to 30 in Prince George and May 4 to 7 in McBride and Fort St. James, students will focus on discussions in five areas: gender, sexuality, spirituality, abilities and multiculturalism
"This is a campaign to promote awareness of issues around differences and let students know what resources are available," said organizer Shawn Peters.
Schools will have scavenger hunts, information booths, lunch-hour activities, and Jeopardy-style diversity games.
Peters said they also post random facts throughout the school hallways, asking questions like what year did women get the right to vote or when did Canada allow same sex marriage or decriminalize homosexuality?
Peters asked trustees and the district to get involved at Tuesday's board meeting and on Wednesday launched a fundraising campaign to help cover the $1,000 to run the project.
To get involved, visit www.diversitypg.com and April 6 is the deadline for schools to register.
