Santa Claus is coming to town.

He’ll be here today, a few days early, from 3 – 5 p.m. greeting kids and their parents in front of the Team Powerhouse plaza at 1679 15th Ave.

The drive-through event is a United Way of Northern BC fundraiser to light up the huge Christmas Tree of Lights that’s been set up on the roof of the Coast Prince George Hotel.

All donors today will be eligible for prizes.

The goal of the Tree of Lights campaign is to collect $30,000 to fund programs and services to tackle the problems of drug abuse and overuse and improve mental health and well-being of those in need. So far, $15,300 has been collected, 53 per cent of the goal.

The first 200 people who drive through and donate today will receive a McDonald’s hot chocolate and candy cane, while the first 50 vehicles will get $10 Mr. Mikes gift cards.

All donors today will be entered in a draw for an Escape Platinum Bluetooth speaker/FM radio, a $50 gift certificate from Tim Hortons, a $50 Panago Pizza gift card and a $100 gift certificate from Northern Hart Designs.

Online donations can be made through the website, www.UWTOL.ca
