A man from Prince Rupert is facing 17 charges related to a series of break-ins and thefts in the Prince George and Vanderhoof areas earlier this month.
The 32-year-old was arrested on Jan. 21 when Prince George RCMP found him in the process of committing an alleged break and enter and a vehicle theft on South Shelley Road.
According to police, evidence they obtained following his arrest have connected the man with a break and enter at Brookside Resort along Highway 16 the day before. Vanderhoof RCMP had been investigating that break-in, which saw a pickup truck driven through the the front of the business and cigarettes and other merchandise stolen from inside.
The truck was abandoned at the scene of the Brookside break-in and had been stolen in Prince George on Jan. 17.
Anthony Halmut Pfrang is charged with one count each of break, enter and theft; break and enter with intent; possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000; attempted theft of a vehicle under $5,000 and trafficking in property obtained by crime. He's also facing two counts each of assaulting a peace officer and resisting arrest in addition to seven counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
