The starting point for the first-ever Ride Don't Hide cycling event in Prince George on Sunday morning has been moved to the parking lot at Winton Global.
The event, which seeks to raise funds and awareness for the local chapter of the Canadian Mental Health Association, had originally been scheduled to start and end at Cottonwood Island Park but high water levels forced the venue change.
Cyclists are asked to gather at 9 a.m., with the ride getting underway at 9:45 a.m. Speakers will address the crowd prior to the event, with Robyn Long telling her story and discussing the stigma of mental illness; Sherry Ogasawara of Northern Health will talk about mental illness in the community and pharmacist Frank Lucarelli will give his perspective on the issue.
The event, which is sponsored by Shoppers Drug Mart and originated in the Lower Mainland, is being held province wide this year for the first time ever.
Winton Global is located at 1850 River Rd.
