Prince George is among the communities where the B.C. Lottery Corporation will be hosting a series of events next week to promote responsible gambling awareness.
They include a two-hour presentation on how gambling affects brain chemistry, gambling responsibly online and an outline of the free prevention and treatment programs available.
It's set for Thursday at the Native Friendship Centre, 1600 Third Avenue, from noon to 2 p.m.
A "myth-busting" kiosk, where the myths and facts of gambling are presented through interactive games, will be making the rounds:
- On Tuesday it will be at the UNBC Winter Garden, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the Parkwood Mall Save On, from 4 to 7 p.m.
- On Wednesday, it will be at the College of New Caledonia, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- On Thursday, it will be at the Hart Save On, from 4 to 7 p.m. and at Westwood Pub, 233 Cherry Ave., from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.
- On Friday, it will be at Pine Centre Mall, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and at CN Centre during the Prince George Cougars hockey game, from 7 to 9 p.m.
- On Saturday, it will be at the Spruceland Save On, from 9 a.m. to noon, and at the Coliseum, from 12:30 to 2 p.m., where a free public skate will also be held.
