Prince George RCMP encourage residents to call police immediately if they see a crime in progress.

Crime Stoppers works well for reporting crimes that have already happened, but are often received too late for police to get to the scene, said Cst. Gary Godwin, media communications officer.

"Recently a Crime Stoppers tip was received on what appeared to be a break and enter in progress. "The incident, unfortunately took place several days ago, but only came to light today," Godwin said.

"When criminal or suspicious activity is in progress, police need to be called immediately at 911 or 250-561-3300 so they can attend."

He said those who call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS when a crime is happening should tell the operator what's happening so police can be dispatched immediately.

"The caller will remain anonymous, but the call will be given immediate attention and will not remain in the Crime Stoppers queue as it may not come to police attention until later."

RCMP send along thanks to the public for their continued support in reporting suspicious activity .
