Work on renovating and restoring the 102-year-old Dunster railway station was recognized with a Heritage B.C. award during a gala in Vancouver on Thursday.

It was awarded in the heritage conservation category for work done to the building, now a museum, last spring.

Toxic paint and asbestos linoleum were removed, before the property was brought back to its former glory using sourced antique items, hand-milled pieces created by local specialists, and painted in traditional colours.
