On the weekend of Dec. 10 and 11, Operation Red Nose provided a total of 284 rides and 71 volunteers covered 6,576 km to get people and their vehicles home safely.
On Dec. 10 there were 20 teams on the road giving 101 rides while on Dec. 11 there were 22 teams providing 183 rides - a new record for the pre Christmas season.
Last year on the same pre-Christmas weekend, 66 rides were given on Friday and 96 rides were provided on Saturday.
"So far during the 2010 campaign, we've provided 531 rides and with only three nights remaining, we're confident we will exceed last year's total of 796," said Andrea Johnson, Operation Red Nose spokesperson.
