The BC Northern Real Estate Board is urging real estate agents to suspend all open houses in answer to concerns over COVID-19 exposure and spread.
"The Board supports the health authorities' call for social distancing and other measures aimed at protecting communities during the COVID-19 pandemic", said BCNREB president Leah Mayer is a statement issued Friday. "I know that our members have already made changes in their practice to protect their clients and others. Most members stopped holding open houses before our recommendation and are actively ensuring additional protective measures during showings."
The option of virtual tours or presentations remains open, Mayer added.
"If you are a buyer or seller, please speak to your realtor about COVID-19 preparedness."
The BCNREB recently changed its rules to allow listings to be designated "no showings" while remaining on the Multiple Listing Service system.
