RCMP seeking 911 dispatchers

A career presentation is scheduled for anyone interested in becoming a dispatcher fielding 911 calls and processing police requests at the North District Operational Communications Centre. It's set for Feb. 7 starting at 9 a.m.

A career presentation is scheduled for anyone interested in becoming a dispatcher fielding 911 calls and processing police requests at the North District Operational Communications Centre.

It's set for Feb. 7 starting at

9 a.m. at the North District RCMP detachment at 4020 Fifth Ave., near Ospika Boulevard. The basic requirements include an approved typing certificate with a minimum 40 words per minute and no more than five per cent errors and a willingness to do shift work, including nightshifts, weekends and holidays.

Candidates must also attend a training program at the Pacific Region Training Centre in Chilliwack followed by a full-time apprenticeship program in Prince George.

Pre-registration is mandatory and seating is limited.
