RCMP recognized for stopping suicide

A trio of Prince George RCMP members have been formally acknowledged for successfully talking a suicidal person off the John Hart Bridge nearlytwo years ago.

On Dec. 21, 2010, Cpl. Todd Wilson, Cst. Lee Bellamy and Cst. Erica Prior were called to the scene, where they found a man who was severely agitated and had positioned himself over the railing of the bridge crossing the Nechako River.

?I am very proud of the contributions and hard work these members do on a daily basis but there are times when our members are faced with extremely challenging situations, such as this incident and therefore, they should be recognized for their courage and outstanding efforts," said Prince George RCMP Supt. Eric Stubbs.

North District RCMP Commanding Officer, Chief Superintendent Rod Booth, presented District Officer?s Certificates of Appreciation to the three for their work during a private ceremony at the Prince George RCMP detachment last week.
