Prince George RCMP took 20 drivers off the road during the first full week of this holiday season's CounterAttack campaign.
Two were for allegedly driving with alcohol or drug levels over the legal limit, while three drivers were issued 90-day immediate roadside prohibitions with 30-day vehicle impoundments. Another three were issued three-day IRPs, four were given alcohol-related 24-hour driving prohibitions, three were given drug-related 24-hour driving prohibitions and five were removed because they were under driving prohibitions.
As well, 25 tickets were issued for violations under the Motor Vehicle Act.
The numbers are for Mon., Dec. 9 to Sun., Dec. 15.
RCMP took 16 drivers off the road during the campaign's opening weekend.
"Despite our best efforts to warn drivers that our officers will be out in full force" RCMP Cpl. Craig Douglass said. "Some people still choose to drive while impaired. Everyone else should be aware of this and be extra cautious while utilizing our roadways."
Through the campaign, police will continue to provide enhanced enforcement throughout the rest of this holiday season and into the new year.
