Mounties in Prince George are looking for witnesses after a suspicious incident was reported near a local elementary school.

Prince George RCMP say they received a report yesterday (Feb. 20) of an adult male driving a white truck following an elementary student the previous day (Feb. 19).

The incident happened around 2:30 p.m. near Heritage Elementary School.

A student left school on foot and noticed a truck parked nearby.

Police say the truck began to follow the child, taking the same route the child was walking. The driver did not attempt to talk to the student but continued to follow the child for several blocks in his truck.

The truck was last seen at the intersection of Corless Crescent and Tabor Boulevard.

Nobody else was inside the vehicle.

Police say the driver is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • Twenty to 30 years of age
  • Short hair with a long beard
  • Wearing a flat-brimmed baseball hat

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a white Ford truck with four doors and a black tailgate.

The investigation is ongoing but Prince George RCMP are asking any witnesses or person(s) involved to contact the detachment at 250-561-3300.
