Smithers RCMP and the North District Major Crime Unit are investigating the stabbing death of a 26-year-old man in Smithers on Friday, according to a statement issued by North District RCMP.
Police were called to Main Street at approximately 11:35 p.m., where they found the Smithers man suffering from stab wounds. He was taken by hospital to Bulkley Valley Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A 21-year-old man was arrested in relation to the attack and charges are expected to be laid.
No further details of the attack or the victim were available as of press time.
