RCMP dispatchers wanted

Three presentations are on the calendar for anyone interested in becoming a dispatcher fielding 911 calls and processing police requests at the North District Operational Communications Centre. They're set for Oct. 18, Nov. 15 and Nov.

Three presentations are on the calendar for anyone interested in becoming a dispatcher fielding 911 calls and processing police requests at the North District Operational Communications Centre.

They're set for Oct. 18, Nov. 15 and Nov. 29, all Saturdays and all 9 a.m. starts, at the North District RCMP detachment at 4020-5th Ave., near Ospika Blvd.

The basic requirements include an approved typing certificate with a minimum 40 words per minute and no more than five per cent errors and a willingness to do shift work, including nightshifts, weekends, and holidays.

Candidates must also attend a training program at the Pacific Region Training Centre in Chilliwack followed by a full-time apprenticeship program in Prince George.

Starting wages range from $24.23 to $26.66 per hour.

Pre-registration is mandatory and seating is limited.
