Rare $2 bills part of theft from ski hill

Police are asking residents to keep an eye out for anyone passing $2 bills.

Police are asking residents to keep an eye out for anyone passing $2 bills.

On Monday night thieves broke into the lodge at Tabor Mountain ski hill, by smashing glass doors, and stole a flat-screen TV, ski equipment, three cash tills and a quantity of cash. Included in that pilfered cash was a quantity of Canadian $2 bills.

"I haven't seen, myself, a $2 bill in circulation in years," said Prince George RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Craig Douglass. "So that's why we're asking the public if anybody does come across a $2 bill to let us know right away so we can speak to the person that's passing it or whatever the case might be that might further the investigation."

Police are also asking the community to take note of anyone that recently came into possession of cash registers or ski equipment. The investigation is still in its early stages, but Douglass said there's stolen goods are likely worth thousands of dollars.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, online at www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca or Text-A-Tip to CRIMES (274637) using keyword "pgtips."
