Three people - including a man previously convicted of confining and assaulting a woman - face charges after the Prince George RCMP's crime reduction team executed a search warrant on an 1100-block Ahbau Street home on Saturday.

Bruce Brian Willier, 34, and Ashley Joseph, 26, have been charged with possession of a prohibited firearm after police seized a loaded .22 calibre gun.

Police also seized quantities of methamphetamine, crack cocaine and heroin, along with an assortment of drug trafficking paraphernalia and Willier also faces a charge of possession of a controlled substance.

As well, Mathew Alston, 30, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

In 2007, Alston was sentenced to an additional 30 months in jail for exacting what a Prince George provincial court judge called a "horrendous assault" on a woman in the fall of 2005 after drug dealers took over her home for three weeks and eventually confined her to the bedroom.

Just a few days before she was able to escape and flee to a gas station at Fifth and Carney, she had tried to bolt for the door when her landlord came for a visit. But Alston hit her across her face with his fist wrapped around a pool cue causing her to lose portions of four teeth and suffer damage to a fifth before she retreated to her room, the court heard.

Willier, meanwhile, also has an extensive criminal record and faces a charge of aggravated assault from an alleged April 2013 incident. That matter is set for trial in March 2014.

Both Alston and Willier remain in custody and Joseph has been released pending an appearance in the new year.
