The University of Northern B.C. community-based campus radio station, CFUR-FM, has just been awarded a Life Performance Production and Archive grant for $27,930 from the Community Radio Fund of Canada under the Radiometres program.

The grant program looks to improve programming through volunteer training and community members' participation.

With the grant the radio station will create a series of live performances featuring local and touring musicians in the region, building infrastructure and developing resources for live performance and archiving.

The series will include recordings of live performances as well as features to highlight songwriters who have made their mark on the community. As the station develops templates, manuals and makes equipment upgrades, the program will be sustainable through staff and volunteer participation.

"CFUR Radio is humbled and thankful for this funding," said Fraser Hayes, station manager. It's our overall goal to support and promote northern B.C. musicians. This project funding will go a very long way in helping to achieve this goal."
