At least one person was killed in a motor vehicle incident north of Quesnel that closed Highway 97 in both directions, midday Tuesday.
Quesnel RCMP confirmed late in the day that the crash was fatal but no details were disclosed. The Citizen did learn that a logging truck and at least one passenger vehicle were involved in the violent collision. The crash took place about 15 kms north of Quesnel, on the Prince George side of the Cottonwood Bridge.
Police sent investigators to the scene to determine the cause of the crash, and logs are strewn across the road along with other wreckage. This cause substantial traffic delays. It was not expected to be open until at least 5:30 p.m.
