It will cost more to stay a night at Purden Lake Provincial Park in a month's time.
Starting March 15, campers will pay $22 per night for a site, a $4 increase, for the park east of Prince George, as a series of fee increases come into effect across the province.
Here's what's in store for parks within 250-kilometres of Prince George where fees are charged:
- Babine Lake Marine: Front country camping at Pendleton Bay and Smithers Landing will remain unchanged at $13 per party per night.
- Beaumont: front country camping will cost $22, a $4 increase.
- Bowron Lake: Front country camping will remain unchanged at $18 per night, as will the rate for the circuit, at $60 per person, and the west side, at $30 per person.
- Bull Canyon: Front country camping will cost $20 per night, a $2 increase.
- Carp Lake: Front country camping will cost $20 per night, a $2 increase and a new weekly rate of $90 will be introduced. The rate for the islands will remain unchanged at $13 per party per night.
- Crooked River: Front country camping will cost $22 per night, a $4 increase while the weekly rate will remain at $65 per party.
- Gwillim Lake: Front country camping will cost $20 per night, a $2 increase.
- Horsefly Lake: Front country camping will remain at $21 per night.
- Kakwa: The cabin fee will remain at $5 per night.
- Lac La Hache: A new weekly rate of $88 per party and a new group picnicking rate of $35 per party will be introduced. The front country rate will remain at $18 per night.
- Moberly Lake: Front country camping will cost $20 per night, a $2 increase, and a new weekly rate of $90 per party will be introduced. The group picnicking rate will remain at $35.
- Monkman: Front country camping will cost $20 per night, a $2 increase.
- Mount Robson: Front country camping at Lucerne will cost $22, a $2 increase, and the group camping base fee will be $80, a $10 increase. The back country fees for Berg Lake will remain at $10 per night for adults and $5 per night for children, the front country camping fee at Robson Meadow and Robson River will remain at $28 per night and group picnicking will remain a $50 per day.
- Pine Le Moray: Front country camping will remain at $16 per night.
- Red Bluff: Front country camping will cost $20 per night, a $2 increase.
- Sowchea Bay: Front country camping will cost $20 per night, a $2 increase.
- Sugerbowl-Grizzly Den: The cabin fee will remain at $5 per night.
- Ten Mile Lake: Front country camping at Lakeside will cost $25 per night and at Touring, $20 per night,both $2 increases. A weekly rate of $88 at Touring will be introduced and the group picnicking rate will remain at $35.
- Tudyah Lake: Front country camping will cost $15 per night, a $2 increase and the group camping base fee will no longer in effect.
- Wells Gray: Front country camping at Clearwater Lake, Falls Creek and Mahood Lake will cost $23 per night, a $5 increase, and at Pyramid, $20 per night, a $2 increase. The group camping base fee will remain at $20 and back country camping at Azure Lake, Clearwater Lake and Murtle Lake will remain at $5 per night as will the group camping base fee at $20 per night.
- West Lake: Group picnicking will remain at $35 per day.
- Whiskers Point: front country camping will cost $22 per night, a $2 increase.
Over the past five years, about $60 million have been spent on improvements to the province's parks, the government said in announcing the hikes.
"The appeal of British Columbia's treasured parks is reflected in the growing number of visitors who come from around the province, and the world, to enjoy them," Environment Minister Mary Polak said. "We are ensuring BC Parks continue to offer a high level of service, as well as enhanced facilities, for the public to enjoy now and for many generations to come."
The Discover Camping online reservation system will start up for another season on March 15.
