Sales of the 2023 Pups of Prince George calendar go on sale at locations around the city, starting Dec. 1.

The calendar features photos of local dogs, selected through a city-wide photo contest. Calendars are $15 each, plus tax, and the proceeds benefit the North Cariboo SPCA’s spay and neuter program, providing support to pet owners who otherwise wouldn’t be able pay.

“The North Cariboo BC SPCA is thrilled to be the recipient for this initiative. The funds raised will be an amazing benefit to the community and the animals we help in Prince George,” North Cariboo SPCA manager Kristen Sumner said. “The photos were amazing to review, there were lots of rescue alumni. Our team loved the variety of dogs in Prince George that they were able to vote on… the decisions were difficult to make.”

The City of Prince George and SPCA partnered to hold the photo contest from Oct. 12 to Nov. 1. A panel of judges reviews more than 300 entries.

“The winning photos were selected based on creativity, overall photo quality, and proof of a dog licence,” a statement issued by the City of Prince George said.

Calendars will be available for sale, starting Dec. 1, at Prince George City Hall’s service centre (1100 Patricia Blvd.), the North Cariboo SPCA (4011 Lansdowne Rd.), Bone and Biscuit (5240 Domano Blvd.), 4 Paws Pure (3110 15th Ave.), Bosley’s (2482 Ferry Ave.) and Day and Night (4381 Handlen Rd.).

Only 1,000 copies have been printed, so supplies are limited.
