A 19-year-old man police have identified as a prolific offender was sentenced Wednesday to one day in jail after a charge of break and enter and commit indictable offence was reduced to mischief to property.

Chad Murphy Peter George was arrested Oct. 26 after RCMP were called to a report of a break and enter in progress at a Foster Road home in the Charella Gardens area. George was found on Ospika Boulevard and arrested and released on an undertaking the next day.

At the time, police said George had a pair of shoes stolen from the Foster Road residence. Two days before the arrest, George had been released from custody after serving 19 days on convictions for possession of stolen property under $5,000 and breach of probation.

George was also ordered to pay a $200 victim surcharge on Wednesday.
