A man known to the police and courts is back in custody.

Prince George RCMP said William Gerald McBride, 43, was arrested during the early morning of Tues., Dec. 13, after patrolling officers noticed a man emerging from a gap in a chain link fence surrounded the back parking lot of a 100-block George Street building.

They also noted a large tote, laptops and tablets laying in the snow on the opposite side of the fence and, while speaking to the suspect, heard an alarm from the building, RCMP said.

McBride has an extensive criminal record. In May, he was sentenced to a 10-month conditional sentence order for convictions related to a shoplifting incident the month before at Spruceland Shopping Centre.

Crown counsel has since approved four charges against McBride from the most-recent arrest, including break and enter to commit an indictable offence.

He remained in custody as of Monday.
