We can all scream for ice cream from an iconic Prince George dessert stop again!
After days of uncertainty when the ice cream stand announced on April 8 that they would have to close their business due to Rona needing more land by May 31, Ice Cream Express has announced they have found a new home that is currently unknown.
Originally, on Monday (April 8), a Facebook post explained they would be having to close down.
"There are not enough words right now as the stand is our livelihood unless we can find another place to park,” reads the post.
Shortly after, a GoFundMe campaign was launched to help save the iconic stand.
Colton Fawcett, a family friend, started the GoFundMe campaign along with the Bergman’s son Russell, to raise awareness and funds to help support the stand as they tried to find a new home for their business.
“When I first met the Bergmans they were nothing but extremely nice to me and welcomed me into their life as a part of their family and I feel like I owe them this after everything they have done for me and the Prince George community,” Fawcett says.
But late on Friday night (April 12) in another social media post, Ice Cream Express says they have found "a forever home."
"We are over the moon with excitement," the Facebook post reads. "We will be at Cowart Road until May 31. We will be posting details of our new adventure/location within a week."
Ken and Leona Bergman expressed their gratitude in the post and thanked Colton Fawcett and her son Russell Bergman, for the GoFundMe being set up, but in the end, they will end up being ok.
"Ken and I from the bottom of our hearts are so very grateful to each and every one of you who have helped us through this last week," Leona Bergman writes in the post. "It has really made us feel so loved by our great community and we hope to return the favour. We want to give a special thank you to Colton and Russell and all those who donated to the fund. We were beyond touched that these boys did this for us. But we are going to be ok."
Today (April 13) the Bergmans will open at 1 p.m. with a closing time to be announced and have asked people to stop by and get their favourite ice cream.
