More ball seasons have been cancelled as COVID-19 continues to throw a lot of uncertainty up in the air.

The 2020 season for Prince George Minor Girls Fastball is the latest league to officially strike out with the pandemic after a decision was made earlier this week.

According to its board of directors, the Thunderbirds’ season would normally be ‘ending in a couple of weeks’ and the house teams would’ve only started as early as July with very little games to play.

“The timelines that were developed and the resources that we have available to us in the north would have made it very difficult to have a season that ensured the health and safety of all our players, their families and our community as a whole,” the association says in hopes of regrouping for 2021.

The Under-16 T-Birds are the reigning bronze-medalists from the 2019 Western Canadian Championships after they settled for silver in the provincial ‘B’ final.

The Under-16 Predators claimed sixth in the provincial ‘C’ tournament, while the Under-14 Thunderbirds finished in the bottom half of their respective event.

Refunds are available through the association and you’re asked to contact them if you’ve already registered for the 2020 season.

Players can also defer their fees over to next year.
