Roughly six weeks after parting ways with the Prince George Spruce Kings, Carter Woodside has officially been traded.

The 20-year-old goaltender has been dealt to the Victoria Grizzlies in the BCHL’s Island Division.

He suited up in 22 games with the Spruce Kings in 2019-20 campaign, compiling a record of 5-11-2 with one appearance in the playoffs.

Woodside registered a .900 save-percentage and a 3.08 goals-against average during his time with the 2019 Fred Page and Doyle Cup champions.

To complete the trade, Prince George is receiving future considerations from Victoria.

On Jan. 13, the team confirmed to PrinceGeorgeMatters that Woodside had wanted to part ways and brought in Kobe Grant as it’s new third netminder for a potential 2020-21 season.

This means there are three on the roster; Grant, Jordan Fairlie and Aaron Trotter.

Additionally, Prince George traded its rights for forward Wil Kushniryk to Surrey for defenceman Cade Alami.

Alami played 58 games for the Eagles in 2019-20, recording four goals and 13 points, before returning closer to home with the Jersey Hitmen, where he's played 16 games this year.

The soon-to-be 20-year-old is committed to Providence College in the NCAA starting in fall of 2021.

As the BCHL still awaits a decision from the provincial health office on any competitive games, the league also unveiled ‘multiple’ positive COVID-19 tests among the Spruce Kings.

Those members are currently under quarantine as directed by Northern Health, per the update on Feb. 19.

At the time, the Prince George franchise said an update would be provided ‘in the coming days.’
