As Environment Canada continues its snowfall warning in Prince George, the city’s snow team will be on the clock until it dissipates.
According to a release, city and contracted crews will be working through the night and into tomorrow morning (Dec. 17) to clear city streets listed under Priorities One and Two.
Snow crews will plowing through the following areas:
ONE
- Arterial roads and curb-adjacent sidewalks
- Downtown central business roads, laneways, and sidewalks
- University Hospital
- Major facility entrances, pedestrian surfaces, and daily parking areas
- City off-street parking
TWO
- Collector roads and curb-adjacent sidewalks
- Priority hills
- Commercial and industrial zoning roads, laneways, and curb-adjacent sidewalks
- Transit bus routes that are not in Priority One routes
- Transit bus stops along Priority One routes
There’s no word on when crews will be able to get to residential roads, but according to the city’s snow chart, those streets will be handled once Priority One and Two routes are dealt with.
The city advises commuters to drive cautiously near snow equipment and to give them plenty of space.
Environment Canada says there's a 40 per cent chance of flurries this evening (Dec. 16) in the amount of 4 cm, transitioning into a 40 per cent chance of showers and rising temperatures for the morning and a potential high of 4 C.
More information on snow-clearing operations can be found on the City of Prince George website.
We are continuing to see snowfall into the evening with more precipitation foretasted overnight. With warm air moving in and high winds there will be limited visibility, please drive to the conditions. Check @DriveBC for updates and allow space for our equipment to work #yxs #pg
