Prince George small businesses gearing up for Plaid Friday 2019

Put on your best flannel and shop local, says Downtown Prince George
Plaid Friday 2019

Tomorrow (Nov. 29) may be Black Friday at the big department stores and at other businesses in the city, but Downtown Prince George is putting on its annual day of savings to celebrate the creativity of local companies.

Plaid Friday has become synonymous in Prince George, an alternative event that helps support small businesses and celebrates the unofficial kick-off to the holiday shopping season.

Residents are encouraged to check out the shopping downtown has to offer at anytime tomorrow, buy their product, then bring the receipts between 3 and 6 p.m. to the Hubspace, aka Plaid Friday headquarters, and you can win Love Downtown PG prizes.

If you’re one of the first 12 people to arrive at the Hubspace (1299 3rd Ave.) with receipts in hand from downtown businesses, you’ll take home a new snow shovel.

There will also be free giveaways, crafts for kids and opportunities to take photos with Santa Claus at Plaid Friday HQ by donation, in which proceeds will go to support Community Partners Addressing Homelessness (CPAH).

CPAH is a group of community service organizations, government ministries, organizations and concerned individuals all working in partnership to end homelessness in Prince George.

And you can also join in on all the fun just by wearing plaid!

If you get the office together and post your plaid-full photo or selfie on the Love Downtown Facebook Page during Plaid Friday, you can be entered to win a lunch for up to 10 people courtesy of White Goose Bistro.

Plaid Friday is also the start of the Downtown PG Holiday Draw, where you can enter for a chance to win a prize just by shopping downtown from Nov. 29 until Jan. 3, 2020.

More information is available on Downtown Prince George’s website.
