A man wanted for several sexual offences in Prince George has been arrested on Vancouver Island.

Christopher Lloyd Dixon has been charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and sexual exploitation.

An arrest warrant was issued for Dixon in September 2019 after the 38-year-old failed to appear for court.

Prince George RCMP say the allegations date to 2017 and involve a female under the age of 18.

Const. Maury Tyre, spokesperson for the Campbell River RCMP, said the arrest is an example of the role the public and media can play in locating wanted people.

“People were aware that Dixon may have been in the community," said Tyre.

"Thanks to media articles, somebody saw him and called police and that led to the police being able to zone in on his whereabouts and apprehend him."

In early July, Mounties released Dixon’s photo and said he was believed to be in the central area of the Island, possibly near Campbell River, Black Creek or Cedar.
