There is a trend in the unemployment numbers for October with B.C., Canada and Prince George all seeing the same drop in percentage points.
September saw Prince George with an unemployment rate of 4.9 per cent. October shows a drop of a 0.1 percentage point to 4.8 per cent.
The Cariboo region (Williams Lake, Quesnel, 100 Mile House, Prince George and McBride) went from 5 per cent in September to 4.7 per cent last month.
B.C., meanwhile, also saw a decrease of a 0.1 percentage point going from 4.2 in September to 4.1 in the second month of fall. The province also still holds the lowest unemployment rate in the country.
Canada also saw the same decrease B.C. and Prince George saw, going from 5.9 to 5.8.
Employment nationally saw 22,000 more jobs added in business, building and other support services, bringing the year-over-year gains in the industry to 43,000 (5.7 per cent).
The wholesale and retail trade also saw 15,000 jobs added in October, mainly in Quebec.
One industry that did see a drop was "other services," where 17,000 fewer people were working. "Other" includes services such as those related to civic and professional organizations; repair and maintenance; and private households.
Employment in finance, insurance, real estate, rental and leasing also went down by 15,000 last month, which offsets an increase from the month before.
Another decrease was among public sector workers, which is the second decline seen in three months; 31,000 jobs were lost in October.
