Prince George RCMP collected money from a different kind of bill last night (Nov. 14).

Police officers worked a night shift at Boston Pizza, serving food and accepting donations for Special Olympics B.C. The Spruceland location was one of 25 stores taking part in Cops, Pops and Pizza fundraiser.

During the evening, law enforcement and athletes spoke with customers about the Special Olympics.

Cpl. Craig Douglass says some patrons donated up to $100 to the cause. Boston Pizza also gave a generous donation. In total, $1,400 was raised for the charity.

“The RCMP are always proud and honoured to be recognized by Special Olympics B.C. to participate in events like this, where through fundraising efforts, we are able to contribute to our local Special Olympic athletes and support them in their endeavours,” Superintendent Warren Brown, Officer in Charge of the Prince George RCMP, says in a press release.
