Mounties in Prince George are issuing a warning after 17 reports of break-and-enters were received between Aug. 4 and 12.
The targets are businesses in the city.
RCMP say the incidents happened at the following locations:
- Quinn Street - 4
- Ogilvie Street
- River Road - 2
- Spruce Street
- 1 Ave.
- 3 Ave.
- 15 Ave.
- Ospika Boulevard
- Queensway
- Tabor Boulevard
- Robertson Road
In a release, Cpl. Craig Douglass says in these investigations, they have noticed the following similarities:
- Glass doors smashed to gain entry
- Suspects specifically targeted cash drawers
- All of these incidents happened between midnight and 4 a.m.
- Some properties targeted were professional offices including medical and vet clinics
In separate reports, a Ford F-Series pickup and F-Series van were also stolen from different incidents on Quinn Street but also close to the times of some of the break-ins.
"Although investigators cannot confirm all these incidents were committed by the same suspect(s), given the motives, methods and geographical areas, likely most of them were," Douglass adds
Police urge businesses including professional offices to remove any cash on the premises before closing for the day and install high-quality video surveillance systems.
