Video game enthusiasts and pop culture experts from across Northern BC gathered at the House of Ancestors Aug. 22-24 for the inaugural Video Games Prince George (VGPG) Gaming Expo.
The three-day convention featured competitions (with cash prizes), free-play gaming, video game vendors, trivia, and more.
- Northern BC fighting game experts — including an Evo: The Ultimate Fighting Game Tournament contender from Prince Rupert — shared insights on competing, travelling, and breaking into the competitive fighting game scene.
- Members of local bands such as The Burden and Mad Bomb formed a video game cover band called the Pixel Pals. They discussed video game music and performed live during the event.
- Chris Tompkins, a local video game collecting expert, led a panel on finding deals and collecting games in Northern BC.
- VGPG co-organizer Kelsy Polnik hosted a panel on the difficulty of original NES games — a topic he explored in depth in his recently published book chronicling his quest to beat every NES game on the original hardware.
