Burnaby RCMP nabbed a couple of suspected thieves with help from their colleagues in Prince George and may have plucked a thorn from the side for a local business in the process.
Acting on information received from the Prince George RCMP, police said they followed two men from Burnaby to Langley on Wednesday where they were caught stealing merchandise from a truck destined for Prince George.
One of the men arrested was the driver of the transport truck, Burnaby RCMP said.
"We were acting on information received from Prince George RCMP," said Sgt. Adam MacNeill of Burnaby RCMP.
"Our information was that over $14,000 in merchandise had disappeared from shipments originating in Burnaby and there was a strong possibility that an additional theft was about to occur. With the assistance of the Prince George RCMP, our members managed to pull this together very quickly."
Zdravko Slipac, 31, of Burnaby, and Marinko Slipac, 29, of Langley, appeared in Surrey provincial court on Thursday.
