The Prince George RCMP, Prince George Community Foundation and the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation have announced the total raised from the 50/50 draw during Community Heroes Night.
“In total, $60,000 was raised through the charitable donations of Prince George residents. We’re amazed at the generosity of those who donated,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, media relations officer for the Prince George RCMP.
The $60,000 was raised by the Prince George Community Foundation, Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation, and the PG Cougars who raised the $60,000 at the Cougars Mega 50/50 game.
$20,000 each will be given to PG Firefighters Charitable Society, RCMP Victim Services and Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation
“Prince George RCMP will be partnering with the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation to help fund a piece of equipment identified by the Foundation as a need in Prince George. We are happy to keep this money in Prince George and return it to the community that so generously donated it,” said Superintendent Darin Rappel of the Prince George RCMP.
Cooper told The Citizen that one of the possible pieces of equipment they are considering purchasing is a LifePak for the Pediatrics Department at UHNBC.
All three organizations were overwhelmed by the generosity of Prince George locals and their donations and are looking forward to next year’s Community Heroes Night.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Prince George RCMP for their dedication in helping support crucial medical equipment for UHNBC, strengthening care for our entire community," said Aimee Cassie, CEO of the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation. "A huge thank you to the teams who worked tirelessly behind the scenes and to our community, who continue to step up year after year to support Community Heroes Weekend. Your commitment makes a real difference, and we are so appreciative."
