A city man pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm and not complying with a court order during a Provincial Court hearing on Thursday, Dec. 11.

Teddy James Lowley, born in 1995, failed on Aug. 31, 2023 to comply with a May 2018 court order. He also pleaded guilty to May 22, 2024 offences of possessing a sawed-off shotgun, knowing that he was prohibited to do so, and possessing a firearm without holding a licence or registration.

Lowley appeared by video from the Kamloops Regional Correctional Centre.

Lowley’s lawyer, Jason LeBlond, asked Judge Martin Nadon to hold a Jan. 14 hearing to fix a date for sentencing.

Crown prosecutor Rodney Withall said the sentencing would be timed for spring and that Crown and defence were in agreement to keep Lowley in custody in a provincial facility instead of transferring him to the federal system.
